5-a-side Footie [est. 2002]
We play regular indoor 5-a-side footie games at the Armitage centre in Fallowfield [there is a map at the bottom of the page]. Sometimes when the weather permits [which isn't often!] we play outside on the larger astroturf pitches. Games cost £3 for an hour.

The games are friendly and informal. There are players from all over the world, all levels are welcome and nobody keeps score! To join the mailing list and take part in the games email:
steveashworth@internationalsociety.org.uk.
How It Works And How To Get A Game
How The Games Work
The games are organised from a mailing list. I send emails out about the games around a week in advance and the first 10 people to reply and say they want to play get a place. You can only book one place per email. If you want your friends to play they'll need to be registered on the mailing list too. Let me break it down for you:

Step 1: I send out an email to everyone on the mailing list, saying, for example, that there are two games this coming Thursday evening.
Step 2: If you want to play, then simply email and say, "I want to play."!
Step 3: I'll then email you personally and confirm if you have a place or not, as well as the exact time of the game and any other relevant info.
Step 4: When the games are full, I'll email a confirmation to everyone in the game to make sure everyone knows the correct time and place.

How To Get A Game
Firstly you need to be on the mailing list. If you want to join simply email me at steveashworth@internationalsociety.org.uk. Secondly you need to respond quickly to the emails when they come as games often sell out very quickly. Thirdly, you need to make sure that you turn up, on time, for every game that you play. Players who are reliable will get chosen to play over players who are not!

If You Can't Make A Game
If you book a place in a game but then find that you can't make it for some reason, you will need to email me as soon as possible to let me know. There are usually people who will happily take your place. You will need to give me 24 hours notice to try and find someone else. People who don't show spoil the game for the other nine players who do turn up and remember: all you ever need to do is send me an email. It's not rocket science.
If You Don't Show Up
If you don't show up for a game and don't give me 24 hours notice you will be given a YELLOW CARD. You will then be temporarily removed from the mailing list. To be put back on the mailing list you will need to pay your fee for that game [£3] as the Society will have lost that money.

If you don't show up for a game for a second time you will then be given a RED CARD. You will then be permanently removed from the mailing list.

Health and Diversity Mini-Tournament: Friday 18th June 2010
The Int Soc Footie Club scored a proud double victory at the tournament on Friday as we placed 1st and 2nd! Both our teams won their respective semi-finals and faced each other in the final game. The bibs just won the final from the reds 3-2. Thanks to everyone for coming along. Hopefully we can enter [and win] more tournaments next year!

Int Soc Footie Hall Of Fame
So far, out of the hundreds of footballers that have played with the International Society through the years, only a few have shown the dedication and staying power to make it on to the Hall Of Fame. Currently three players have Legend Status having played 100+ games. Nine more have Veteran Status having played 50+ games. Fifteen more have attained Pro Status having played 25+ games. Another 57 players have played between 10 and 25 games and are Semi-Pro Status. To give you an indication, the current leader on the board has taken 5 years to amass his total...
