Classes Are For International Society Members Only!
The Language Classes are only available to our members. For more information on membership please click here. You can join as a member and complete the class registration form in the same visit.
How Much Does It Cost?
Classes cost £40 for ten weeks of lessons, with one lesson of an hour and a half per week [equivalent to £4 per lesson]. The full payment of £40 must be made in order to join a class.
Cash Only Please!
The International Society can only accept cash in payment for classes.
The 24 hour rule!
You must register for classes at least 24 hours before your first lesson. This gives us time to change the timetable and register and inform the teacher concerned. Please note: If you arrive just before a lesson and try to register you will not be allowed to join.
First Day Of Registration Is Busy!
Registration for the language classes is often extremely busy and you may have to queue and wait to join. We always do our very best to keep any waiting time as low as possible. Please make sure you have the correct payment and forms ready to avoid having to queue again. Registration always takes place from a set day and time to make it as fair as possible for everyone. You cannot register or book a place before the set registration date. If you are unable to attend the registration then a friend will be able to register for you.
How Do Refunds Work?
You can only claim a refund before your third lesson takes place. This enables you to attend two lessons and see of the class is suitable for you. If you decide to leave before your third lesson then you must claim your refund from the main International Society office. You will get back the registration fee minus the cost of the class/es that have already taken place.

Also, if we have been unable to provide all the lessons paid for by the end of the term [due to teachers being ill for example] we will also refund you the cost of these classes.

All refunds must be claimed before the end of that term of classes. Refunds are not transferable to pay for another class or another service at the Society nor can they be transferred from one term to the next. You are responsible for claiming your refund before the end of the refund period (end of term).
You Cannot 'Try' Classes!
You must register in full for a class before you are able to attend. It is extremely disruptive for both students and teachers if people attend lessons without registering first. Anyone found attending lessons without registering will be removed from the building and may be banned from attending classes at the International Society in the future.
Moving Classes
If you find that the class you have joined is not of a suitable level or you find that you can no longer attend for some reason, you can change to another class providing there is an available space in the class you'd like to move to.

You can change from one level to another or from one language to another. However you can only change between classes in the same term i.e. you cannot change from an Autumn Term class into a Spring Term class.
We Can Give You A Letter Of Attendance
We are not an accredited language school and cannot provide a formal qualification. However we are very happy to provide you with an official letter of attendance from the International Society.
All Our Teachers Are Fantastic Volunteers!
All of the language teachers at the International Society are volunteers. In many cases they have experience or qualifications as a teachers but also many may be teaching for the first time in order to gain experience. Please be supportive of the teachers as they are giving their time and energy for free!
